Reposted from r/lolsupermanofficial (improved and corrected):
I uploaded my statement on the original subreddit about a year ago, but since it got hacked and deleted, I will post it here in case it helps. I’ve added more details that I forgot to include previously.
(Note: I’m using another account because the original one, where I posted my statement and helped with the search, got banned.)
A couple of years ago, before the search started, I was visiting my aunt with my family. Prior to that, I had been binge-watching iceberg videos at home, and one of them was about shock media from the 2000s (it also included some recent videos from that time period). When we arrived at her house, I continued watching that video in her living room (on my phone, of course).
The video discussed some well-known gore videos, and in one of the lower levels, it mentioned Man Turns to Jam. However, the creator never stated it was related to 9/11; he only referred to it as a suicide jumper and nothing more. Maybe he wasn’t aware that it was filmed inside the plaza and that there were two victims.
The iceberg video was in Spanish and used a Loquendo voice. It was about 30 to 50 minutes long. At the end of the video, the creator stated that the links to those videos were in the description, but it was up to us whether we wanted to watch them.
Man Turns to Jam was almost at the very bottom of the list, probably three links above; I can’t remember correctly.
When I clicked on the link, it sent me to an advertisement page. Some links directed me to Caliente.com (a gambling site), while other links took me to AdFly, which displayed a blank page with a blue ad at the top featuring a cartoon bee or insect.
I did the classic back-and-forth until I was able to access the page. The page itself had a white background with a red stripe at the top that displayed porn ads and gore pictures of accidents, I believe. The comments section was disabled, and the video had a thumbnail that said Man Turns to Jam. Some users mentioned that it was probably Ogrish, but the page had no logo — just what I described. Also, since I was using my phone, maybe the page wasn’t completely visible.
When I clicked on the video, it showed a black background, and the title appeared with some sort of Sony Vegas editing, specifically the effect where the title slowly fades in.
Now, regarding the video itself: it starts with the title and then fades to a cameraman walking towards WTC 1 from the right side of the Sphere on the plaza. He doesn’t approach the building directly; he stays alongside the Sphere.
He slowly zooms in on the stage, and while he is zooming out, the camera captures a victim falling to the ground. The cameraman doesn’t notice until he hears the loud impact — perhaps he was still focused on the stage. The camera shakes, and you can see the red impact in front of WTC 1. He notices a second victim falling and zooms in while they are still in the air, probably about five seconds after the first one. However, you can’t see the impact; you only see the blood after he backs up. He continues to shake and quickly turns to his left, and in that motion, you can see WTC 2 and the Sphere covering most of it, as he was very close to the Sphere.
The video ends with the cameraman groaning and running to leave the plaza, I suppose. I remember it so vividly; it sounded like he wanted to cry.
Now, some more details:
-
The video had a bluish tint, reminiscent of VHS, but it looked more like it was filmed from another device, suggesting that it probably wasn’t the original source;
-
There was audio — crappy, but there was audio. The only things I remember hearing are the constant noise from the fountain, the two loud impacts from the victims, and the groans of the cameraman;
-
There was no Muzak background music, likely due to the cameraman being so close to the fountain and the low-quality audio;
-
The towers weren’t visible enough. In the video, you could only make out the Sphere, the stage, and the tridents. There was no shot of the impact zone; at most, there was the part where he zooms in on the second victim falling, but it’s so quick that I barely saw the windows — they looked more like a grey wall instead;
-
When clicking on the three dots in the video, you could only change the speed or mute the audio — there was no option to download;
-
I rewatched the video three to four times before moving on to the next link; that’s why I remember most of it;
-
Weeks later, after I watched it (still before the search started), the iceberg video was no longer available. The channel made a statement that the video was taken down for showing explicit imagery and for including links to explicit material;
-
The channel got taken down? I explained to some users that I tried my best to look up that channel, but since it happened a long time ago, I wasn’t able to remember the name of the channel or the video—just the main focus of it;
-
Some users tried to assist in the search by asking content creators about it, but they were not successful;
-
Last but not least, I no longer have the YouTube account where I watched the iceberg video. I had uploaded some AI covers, and that account was taken down. I have also activated the feature that deletes my YouTube search history and Google history, so even if I had the account, those records are long gone;
I will leave some recreations I made. Last time, I made drawings, but now I used 3D models to try to get a better angle. They’re still not 100% accurate:
